Despite being a Dutch Cloggy I am near fluent in English. I have always enjoyed speaking English and have evolved from phonetically singing along with music as a child, to a level where i can crack jokes like a native speaker.
Living in Dublin for a year has done a lot for my language skills, i still occasionally swear 'Irish style'. At the same time i was also drilled by an English boyfriend who happened to be an teacher for English as a second language (the boyfriend did not stay). As i traveled with much vigour I picked up on different accents, but even more helpfull was watching a LOT of snooker. Thank you Steve Davis, Dennis Taylor and Alan McManus (to name only a few).
Obviously not being Anglophile at all, i currently again have an English partner (we intend to last). Despite his efforts to learn Dutch that has not become our standard (yet) for communication.
